Technical data

Invercote’s multiple layers of solid bleached fresh fibres provide superior strength and stiffness compared to board grades containing mechanical or recycled fibres. The fibre composition varies in each layer of Invercote, and fibres are selected based on shape and length and are treated differently to tailor the paperboard construction for its intended use. The multi-layer construction forms an excellent base for coating, which is applied in two or three steps to ensure smoothness for printing and foiling. It is also ideal for bending, folding, creasing, and embossing. Invercote can be printed on using most conventional methods and digital printing processes. Its strength and consistent baseboard performance enable full-speed printing and post-print production.

Enhancements

All our Invercote products can be combined with different barriers and coatings to add protection, strength, and design opportunities to your packaging.

Polyethylene (PE)

Polyethylene (PE) coated paperboard is suitable for disposable cups or packaging for frozen foods, meat products, and chocolate. The PE barrier provides a simple yet efficient way to heat-seal end products.

Technical data sheet

Polyethylene terephthalate (PET)

Polyethylene terephthalate (PET) barriers provide good sealability and act as an excellent oxygen and fat barrier. They are also extremely temperature-resistant and highly suitable for applications such as PET-coated dual-ovenable food trays.

Technical data sheet

Bio-E

Our Bio E barrier is based on renewable resources and adapted for organic recovery through composting or anaerobic digestion. The material is suitable for applications where biodegradability is desired.

Technical data sheet

Metalprint

Metalprint has exceptional surface smoothness and offers excellent barrier properties. It is typically used for premium packaging applications where decorative printing is a must.

Technical data sheet

Metalprint Digital

Metalprint Digital is metallised PET laminated paperboard, especially developed and certified for printing without pre-treatment in the HP Indigo 4-series.

Technical data sheet

Alubarrier

Alubarrier is the densest barrier in our portfolio and is commonly used for sensitive products like crisps, ice cream and cereals. Extrusion-laminating the aluminium foil makes the paperboard impermeable to light, moisture, flavours, and gases.
