Traceable raw material
The raw material for our joinery timber comes from Holmen’s own slow-growing and responsibly managed forests, or is bought in from private forest owners. Our advanced wood grading technology, which includes X-ray scanning, sawing with a horizontal saw, a trimming saw with camera sorting and batch kilns with pressure frames, produces even and stable quality.
Flooring grade
Flooring grade timber is graded with sound knots. The product is used primarily to make solid wood flooring for indoor use. Moisture content 8%.

Furniture grade
Furniture grade is a grade with a very high proportion of sound knots and an even structure. The product is sawn from a log that has already been graded for sound knots. The product is used mainly in the edge-glued products industry for furniture components, shelving and so on. Furniture grade timber is dried down to a moisture content of 9% or 11%.

Green split
Green split timber uses the grain structure and proportion of heartwood to create the best possible properties for the window industry. Since the end product may be exposed to wind and weather, a high proportion of heartwood is needed for a degree of natural protection. The right volume of heartwood in the log can be optimised from as early as the log sorting stage. Green split timber is supplied with or without pith/centre free. Moisture content 12%.
