C24 grade structural timber
Holmen uses certified forest raw material for all its structural timber, which means everyone can rest assured that the wood comes from sustainably managed forests. Since all the wood also originates from northern Sweden, the structural timber has the slow-grown strength and quality that only long and extremely cold winters can create. With a strength class of C24, you can use the timber in structures that demand a high load-bearing capacity.

C24 grade structural timber – finger-jointed
The finger-jointed version of C24 has the same excellent properties as regular C24, but has been finger-jointed to precisely the lengths and quantities required. This simplifies the building process in the best possible way, as well as avoiding unnecessary waste. You buy exactly what you need and there is then less cutting to do on site once your project is under way.

Structural timber

Our structural timber has the same excellent grade and properties as C24, but in dimensions that are not classified.

Battens
The raw material for Holmen’s battens is strong, high-quality wood from the forests of northern Sweden. The origin and superb properties of the material mean that you are leaving nothing to chance, when laying tiles or sheet metal on your new roof. Tongue and groove
Tongue and groove sheathing is the kind of detail in a building project that will likely go unseen once the job is done. But whether you use it as a substrate for roof tiles, roofing felt or sheet metal, it always feels good to know that you have a sheathing and stabilising underlay based on the best possible forest raw material. Holmen’s tongue and groove can trace its roots back to the slow-growing forests of northern Sweden, so you know the product is going to be quality through and through.

Formwork timber
Time for a little concrete casting? A good tip is to use formwork timber from Holmen. Because although it is not subject to any specific requirements concerning strength or appearance grading, it always feels good to use a material that you know you can trust and trace back to its origin. The raw material for Holmen’s formwork timber comes from the sustainably managed forests of northern Sweden, which is reassuring whatever the project.

Handling and maintenance
Where the planning of a construction project involves sourcing precut timber for specific uses, set procedures should be in place for the handling of the timber packs until they are used. Wood products destined for visible use indoors should be delivered for immediate installation in a warm and dry environment.
To reduce waste and ensure the right moisture content, the timber packs need to be handled correctly all the way from delivery until the material is incorporated into the finished building. A stickered pack should be placed under cover but well ventilated. Timber for non-visible use should only be stored outdoors on site for a short period. This temporary storage should be designed so that the timber is protected from wet weather, strong sunlight and ground moisture.
Plan suitable places for timber storage
Well drained asphalt or coarse tarmac are a good substrate, as they reduce the risk of soil and dirt splashing up onto the timber.
– Place the timber pack in the shade, not in strong sunlight in summer/autumn.
– Make sure that air can circulate around the timber pack. The distance above ground should be at least 150 mm.
– Use railway sleepers or pallets, for example, as bearers.
Covering after the pack has been opened
Just for a short period, a tarpaulin can be placed directly over the timber pack, but make sure that it does not cover all the way down to the ground. If the timber is going to be stored for longer than a week, air needs to be able to circulate between the timber and the tarpaulin.
