Braviken paper mill outside Norrköping is one of the world's most production efficient paper mills and is located on Bråviken beach. Here technology and tradition are combined with a strong environmental awareness. The paper machines are up to hundreds of meters long, technologically advanced and they work around the clock, year round, to produce tons of paper.
About 400 people work at Braviken's Paper Mill, everyone with great knowledge and strong commitment. Together we refine the Swedish forest into innovative special papers that are used, among other things, for magazines, books and advertising.
Holmen is one of the biggest forest owners in Sweden and the growing forest is the basis of our business. We are part of the ecocycle from seedling to plank, where the raw material is refined into everything from wood for climate-smart buildings to renewable packaging, magazines and books.
The co-location of the paper mill and the sawmill enables great synergies that benefit both the production and the environment. The sawmill supplies the paper mill with wood chips for pulp production, and in return they get hot water to make steam for the drying kilns. Residual bark, sawdust and dry wood shavings is used for energy production at the paper mill or for district heating at the nearby heating plant.
